I haven't watched any of Shugo Chara! just yet and it being the associated anime, just the sheer aggressiveness of "My Boy"makes me quite curious as to what this anime entails...
The *soul* of "My Boy"'s composition hits like a....thrash metal composition for the lack of a better description at the moment but in any case it's definitely at least of the "heavy metal" genre I think.~ "Janakya Mottainai!" remains yet as my most favorite Buono! metal release =) and the aggressive unison of instruments♪♪ is reminiscent of many past hard rock ♥'z of mine! But what's so awesome and unique about J-music is how even with such a hard driven composition, when the vocals hit you it then all becomes soooo *cute* all over again~! And another wonderful surprise is that while he didn't write the lyrics, Tsunku did write the music♪♪ for the title track "My Boy" and compositions like these just continue to validate Tsunku's amazing versatility as he's truly capable of writing so many style and genres of music as he's shown and proven time and time again~! =)

The LE CD single release includes both a photo card (right) and a bonus DVD which includes a look into the making/shooting of each edition's jacket. The DVD runs approximately 7:16 and primarily highlights each member's thoughts on their incredibly *adorable* outfits as well as some of their thoughts on the single's style~.
Although I would so have loved if they'd included an alternate version of the title track's pv as has occurred in past H!P LE releases....it's still a very nice look into a bit of the behind the scenes of a fun and lively photo shoot.........and as always is the case with Buono!...you can be sure to count of Airrin to *ham* it up for the camera with the cutest of expressions...she's just so spontaneously funny!…(^q^)!
.....and now for a few *moments* with H!P's resident ♥~ham~♥.......all from the "jacket making of" DVD........
Buono! is plain and simple just one of the most shining groups to ever grace the H!P landscape and their J-Pop utopia train continues to roar through the music scene with their latest single release "co no mi chi."
Group dynamics are so essential when the hopes of longevity are at stake and Pony Canyon's brainchild of a group continues to excel with a group chemistry that is truly second to none in our idol fansphere.....as Airiin, Momo & Miya have forged such a solid image, sound, and close knit aura that even the casual fan at this point I think would find it very difficult to deny that Buono! is firmly set to be a force to be reckoned with for many years to come in the idol music industry where a soar or sink reality has long been in place.

Even with a debut release as impressive as "Honto no jibun", all dreams and hopes of Buono!'s continued success have exceeded what I imagined initially and the stellar mixing of such endeared members from two high profile groups in H!P have produced a blueprint of sorts for which the next generation of artists/idols can truly take note of in hopes of succeeding as well. Buono! is made outstanding by the means of having 3 very distinct voices, 3 developed and talented voices, 3 very diversified personalities and amazing song writing to present it all.
Tsunku makes a collaborative appearance as he penned the music for the title track "co no mi chi" and the CD + DVD release includes a Shugo Chara/Buono! photo card as well as making of footage which runs just over 10 minutes.

Once again I'm lobbying for UFA to once again release their CD singles and pv DVD singles on the same release date as they once did long ago....it still puzzles me as to why they stagger coinciding releases with latter dates as wouldn't any fan want to be able to watch both the pv and enjoy the single release in an adjacent moment? I'm often tempted to watch the pre-uploaded pvs (and I've caved on occasion! :P ) which always appear weeks before even the single is released but somehow that for me defeats the extra excitement of receiving the actual DVD release and subsequently watching it for the very first time. Funny I guess I'm sort of "old" fashioned in this way.......lol you're allowed to tease! XD
LE bonus DVD have now clearly moved away from sharing an alternate pv version as they have in the past (leaving those to FC event DVDs ^ ^ ) but with such awesomely cute footage of behind the scenes I'm finding these two part making of segments most enjoyable! ^o^♪♪ There's just over 10 minutes here and the promise of more with the pv DVD single's release! ………(゜∀゜)………。
We're treated to the jacket shooting footage and you have to love just the sight of Airiin, Momo & Miya mouthing syllables which appear on the RE cover! They're so cute with their expressions~!♥ But when it comes to hamming it up for the camera at any time...any given moment....any time she's awake........it's all about Airiin by far in this dynamic! o(*´∀`)o゛
Buono!'s resident ham is warming up and getting ready to go to work on your emotions! =)
Airiin just cracks me up so much~! I can't help but smile and laugh whenever she's in her element as she's just so wonderfully offbeat at seemingly any given moment.....in all of my years of watching H!P and with all of the individually amazing personalities that they've given fans over the years, Airiin is just so unique in her ways so much that in a sense she stands above all of her predecessors in the ♥quirkiness♥ category~! \(^o^)/☆
....and her Momo "monomane" ("impersonation") is already legendary in these clips included with the LE DVD!!!! (*^o^*)....as she cracks up not only me but her fellow members as well!!
LOL~! does Momo really walk that way???? O_o! ..................
Buono!'s "Rottara Rottara" pv DVD single can be ordered here from Cdjapan.
Okay they specifically put a bit in here with the "sour" faces or quirky expressions is perhaps a better description but in either case Airrin is sooooooooooooooo much the ham!!! And many probably already know of this through previous C-ute or Buono! appearances but she's just too adorable! While Momo may hold the Ace of Adorableness in Buono! and most of H!P for that matter (besides Kamei of course!) in Buono! it's Airiin sporting the most outwardly quirky and ♥dorky♥ aura. I think you could hand Airiin the phone book and she'd keep most wota entertained.....okay make that her female fan base too as wota may be too easily entertained by idols in general! :P But Airiin has proven time and time again just how fun she is no matter what the circumstances and her facial expressions are truly second to none! Plus Airiin resembling former schoolmate = bonus points! They're such the perfect trio with Miya bringing the powerful presence and strongest vocals, Momo the adorable sniper and then with Airiin's quirkyness and attention to um detail it all just fits together like a perfect J-Idol wet dream...erm puzzle come true.....lol I mean that in a sweet way though! :P You just watch her though and Airiin is the best in front of a camera...just so naturally natural...lol. ^ ^
So the LE includes in addition to the bonus DVD a Buono! photo card which has the members pictured on one side with "Shugo Chara!" animation on the opposite side...I really wish for more Momusu photo cards too.....pray with me! =)
But what this all gets me to wondering is, what is the most unusual H!P merchandise item out there? I ♥ collecting odd things well because I'm odd :P....and it seems that new ones keep popping up every so often. Still waiting for UFA's release of the "Riiferigerator" due out some time I'm certain but in the meanwhile I have just three to choose from so far that I think qualify as a going beyone the call of oddness and perhaps that's an understatement in itself. =D You probaby remember the Kamei Italian parsley that Paul @ Hello!Blog got for me! :)....... .......and then there's of course the Nacchi linen box! :) Who would've thunk it?!!! :O So what's stranger here? And if you have something odd H!P related pleeeaaaaase share!!!! \(^o^)/ Oh and while you decide...here's my favorite H!P song of 2008 so far to listen to...the year's not over yet so this may change but It's going to take something really awesome to overtake.........
Japanese 2009 calendars can be purchased here from Cdjapan and here from YesAsia. What's interesting is that YesAsia is offering a 10% discount on their calendars but the original starting price is $27-$32 whereas CdJapan doesn't have them discounted yet but their starting prices are between 2200-2300 円. So what it really comes down to is shipping charges and how speedy you want the delivery to be. From my past experience CdJapan is second to none when it comes to prompt delivery whereas YesAsia may sometimes take a bit of a while. But everyone's personal experience with these online sellers is most certainly different and quick delivery may not be an issue at all. :)
Last year C-ute used the theme of music genres very effectively and being that this group's long term goal is global domination ^-^, 2009 holds a world tour theme. The countries chosen to be represented in the varied shots through the year are France, China, Switzerland, Japan (hmmmm...interesting), India, and Spain. Okay that would explain the dot on Erikachan's forehead as seen above. And doesn't Airiin look like she just walked of the set off a new Jane Austin movie?!! ^-^ Instead of sets we have backdrops here but the look works really well...Airiin & Maimichan in French dressing...all that's missing is some red wine. :) Something new and great for 2009 is that each of the groups members' birthdates are marked on each of these calendars in different ways...if I remember correctly only BK's was marked last year but in any case the styling used for next years' calendars are much cuter. Here the members of C-ute have their birthdays marked by cute hearts....hmmm I never realized that Maimichan and Maimai share the same birthdate! Lucky 7! Same as me but um different month. :P March & April show China some love...no wonder they all look like Chun Li from Street Fighter. =D The Swiss miss look is in for May & June. Somehow I think Tsunku could make a new unit out of these three...not that we need any more mini units running wild in H!P as there are plenty enough right now. Yep you guessed it! It's Japan! Funny they chose Japan as they've already conquered that region of the planet and are from there. :P But seriously though....this shot is by far one of the best for 2009!!! I mean how beautiful are these summer yukata! Sooo c-ute! Pun intended too! I appologize for the tops of some of these images being obscured as the calendars weren't given quite enough time to flatten out properly when I took these shots all one after the other so the tops are rolling up a bit. Although "India" may not be readable at the top as it's a bit cut off I think the image says it all. The light pastels work nicely here too. Hey watch that bull in the back!! :P Absolutely love these dresses!! And it won't be long before "little" Maimai is taller than everyone else in C-ute and H!P for that matter....only the giant Kumachan will stand in her way!!! :P And as has been the trend recently, all three calendars presented here have the wonderful extra page....some suitable for framing if removed. Isn't Airiin the most darling here? As many have been brought up to believe...never judge anything or anyone by it's or their exterior. I can't emphasize enough just how much this applies to BK's 2009 release! At first glance truly the cover looks like somewhat of a repeat of last year's design. Simple and perhaps even a bit homely dare I say. But in truth it's nothing like that at all. Just one thing puzzles me about their cover though...they left out the two "U's" in Koubou. Nandeshouka? I know I'm right smack in the middle of this post but I have to argue right now that BK's may just be the best of the three here. Take this image of January & February. Each member has written a character spelling out "Kotoshi mo yoroshiku" ("Please be kind/ stand by us again this year"). An idiomatic phrase used at years start. The personality of this photo itself is built upon through the coming months and each does a great job at making BK's 2009 calendar the most personable here. Birthdays are marked by cute little pink birthday cakes and I know they're difficult to make out here but trust me their cute! ^-^ This one's like a scene right out of Buono! pv! :) The only thing missing is Momo being...uh "tormented." :P Once again the charm of BK's 2009 calender lies in the personality of these shots and the settings themselves play a large role in this. Cafe Berryz! Summer Sanpo...and sometimes casual non costume like clothing works best. Love this library shot and Maasa's shirt reads something like...."I HAVE GOT EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANT"...it's almost as if she's speaking to Shirow directly. :O November & December are great!..returning to the class room setting. Now if only those three in the back would stop kidding around and actually clean the classroom! XD Chiichan I'm talking to you... :P And here is the extra page and with a group shot beginning and ending this calendar...just perfect! In particular I love Miya and Kumachan's styling the best throughout this release...and of course Momo but that's just a given all the time. :) Not to be outdone though...Momusu's release is every bit as well produced as C-ute and BK's...so it really comes down to personal taste I think. Please don't forget to vote for your favorite at the top of this post. :) To begin with Momusu's cover is immaculately beautiful. I think it's their best looking calendar cover thus far...the poses, arrangement of the members and the scenery all pure ♥. What sets Momusu's design apart from C-ute & BK's are the wonderful wonderful!! off shots included at the bottom of each page which are taken from the same photo shoot as the featured months. This adds so much already and then you have the member birthdates creatively and personally marked with flair by each member. Names and little doodles really add to the birthdates and for these two reasons alone this may have you heavily favoring Momusu's release over the previous two....hmm but we'll just have to see the results first to determine that. :) This one's got a Hawaiian inspiration behind it!! Ah Gakisan & Kamei!! The cutest month ever!! ^-^ Okay I'm biased...it's Kamei! :P Kamei Kamei kamei... It's just soooooooo nice to finally see Momusu out of a studio in the real world with nature and things for once! They've been cooped up far too long on sets with plain backgrounds when it comes to their calendar shoots.....at least UFA gave them a budget to work with this year and the results speak volumes and volumes! ^o^ "Singin' in the rain?"...adore those bright colored boots! =D Reinachan & Mitsii....Momusu's odd couple. It's amazing how Reinachan's sex appeal continues to rise every time I see her but I guess if one has legs like those they should definitely use them! ^-^ This fall design is another one of my favorites out of all the shots here...the softness of the brown and orange blend together perfectly in their outfits and their surroundings. Mentor and student reunited...Sayu poses with a case of Amp energy drink! :P Definitely not sugar free either!! Kohachan 好き! Dreamin' of a white Christmas?...cozy and cuddly is this shot...hmmmmmm.... ............why do I suddenly sound like Yoda...only not as wise? :P And with no light saber skills... This final group shot would make one of the most beautiful Momusu posters ever!!!! Just imagine this one framed and matted in white! ^o^ If you remove this page carefully surely it can be done. Everyone looks gorgeous and the overhead shot makes for an ideal angle. Aichan...serious.....Reinachan....confident....Kohachan.....Amp Energy embodied....Mitsii....waiting for a chance to steal Junjun's banana....Sayu....adorable as ever nyan nyan!...Gakisan...picturesque....Junjun....guarding her banana like Fort Knox....Linlin....lighthearted....and Kamei.....♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

With "Shugo Chara" being fitted with a new Egg unit as a suitor for it's theme songs the future of Buono! not only seems to be that of a "permanent" unit but with that also the fresh possibilities of a musical catalog not solely tied to anime is on the horizon. The anime tie in has been both brilliant and inspiring musically and visually for what is arguably H!P's best group of this time but surely many would also love to see/hear just what else this powerhouse trio has to offer outside of this genre and we'll soon get just that. H!P has had far too many units make a nice showing to only fade into nothingness and many times the potential had just been tapped upon leaving fans with an unfinished void of what could have been. Happily Buono! doesn't appear to be of this premature formula and with the awe inspiring succession of each release one can only believe that the best is yet to come.
Much can be said about the chosen members of Buono! which hail from Berryz Koubou and C-ute and just how well whether forseen or not, their personalities, vocals, and energy compliment each other in the larger scheme of things. And what it comes down to is the perfect blend of vocals which are unique enough but at the same time not a distraction from one another in solo or ensemble compositions and saying that Buono! got it right is far too understated. "Chemistry"...that's what rubs off on the viewer/listener as they experience Buono! for the first time or after repeated dosages of J-Pop goodness...really the members choices here seem in hindsight obvious ones, but really who could've predicted such musical perfection? Helium + Power + Finesse = Buono! XD
Pony Canyon has long been known for its amazing connection to housing some of the greatest and most notable idol and female J-Pop acts that the genre has seen and some light parallels can be directly drawn to idol group legend Ribbon which was active from the late eighties till just shy of the mid 90's. Both groups share: 3 members with vocal prowess, a distinctive rock edge, the same parent label in Pony Canyon, and perhaps most importantly...the best songwriting J-Pop has to offer. Here's just a little taste of Pony Canyon in the early 90's via the trio sensation Ribbon...
...this!! Okay dreaming I know! :P But what if Momo, Airiin, and Miya took instrumental matters into their own hands one day?....Momo does share with us during the making of a few drum licks ala Momo style and really it's one of the cutest things ever! ^-^ Another notable aspect of Buono!'s recipe for success includes what all idol groups should adhere to...equal vocal presence for each member and at no time does this concept ever seem compromised which is a simple and much appreciated brilliance of what ideal production can bring to the table. :) All monkey business aside!..here are the "close up" and "dance" versions of the pv:
Funny how you always try to blown down the tower when you opponent(s) are choosing a Jenga block! :P Momo! :)
!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! .....................lol Momo's so adorable!! ^-^
Your first order of business...create your own brand of summer shuffle group for 2008...something that you've been neglecting lately, utilizing 7 Hello! Project members, those that you think would create that special spark that'll break through the Oricon charts and sit there for weeks...(cue evil laughter!)..............(now cue Tsunku's version of "Koko ni iruze!") Quick press stop!!!! :P At first the initial idea was to include only the three main H!P groups...Momusu, Berryz Koubou, and C-ute to choose from...however this style of poll allows for up to 29 possible answers to be embedded so I added 6 additional H!P members to the original 23. I've been having some issues with embedded files and if the poll above isn't displaying properly and the "vote" button is missing after Matsuura Aya's name please use the following link to reach the shuffle group poll: Summer shuffle group poll.
Okay now that your 2008 summer shuffle group lineup has been set the next item on your agenda gets even better:
In order to determine an overall fan voted dream H!P group the inclusion of the vast H!P family must be considered so by following this link you will be able to choose from 52 Hello! Project members which includes every notable group/unit, every solo artist, and even a little venture into the H!P Eggs in the event that you see potential that they will bring to your dream group. Here you'll be choosing your 10 dream group members. I'm limiting the Eggs here though to only include those who've actively been involved in official music releases but at the bottom of the poll you may enter any other Egg's names whom you'd like choose for one of your 10 choices and in this event you'll essentially be adding their name(s) to the ballot. (I wasn't able to embed this 52 member poll although I did try repeatedly but it just wouldn't display properly so that's why I've linked it above instead.) ^-^
Both polls will close on August 30th at midnight (EST) and the results of the top 7 (2008 summer shuffle group) and top 10 (Dream group) respectfully will be posted afterwards. Have a nice day...just please don't record another version of "YOUR SONG~seishun sensei~" or "Go Girl~Koi no victory~" while you're Tsunku...you're beginning to scare the kids!
Ohta was able to obtain this Event V version of Berryz Koubou's latest single "Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance" which was sold at the singles' release event. A new trend in H!P recently has been the significance of these special edition pv releases as they include numerous exclusive versions and what has been the case is the inclusion of at least one very special version which makes obtaining these a must for any H!P fan. The "Monkey Ver." being that sought after exclusive clip with this Event V and it doesn't disappoint! And while Buono! has led the way in ushering in an age of 16:9 formatted pvs, something that I've been wishing for so long as the standard 4:3 just doesn't cut it on your widescreen t.v., Berryz Koubou's Event V as well as their pv DVD single are both shot in wonderful true 16:9 giving your widescreen what it was meant to be able to display all along. Hopefully this trend will continue with all future H!P music video releases being shot in this favorable format.
The first thought of an all monkey version first came into mind when Paul at Hello!Blog mentioned how great it would be if they actually shot one and just a few days later he learned of an event v containing a very such version and passed it along here. A big thank you to Paul for keeping an eye out for this one as it's truly a gem of a version to watch! The direction here looks to be to allow the girls to have as much fun as they'd like as the entire pv looks to be a rather impromptu performance making it I think that much more amusing. The more I look at these outfits the more they seem to have a real home made feeling look to them like mom may have sewn them for Halloween...and I mean that in a good way! So let all the monkey business and tail waggin' begin... ...and when it's all over look for a hopping Momo (above) in the background as she fights to get some screen time from the back row! LOL! She's just so tiny!! ^ ^My copy of BK's commercially released pv DVD for "Yuke Yuke Monkey Dance" also arrived recently but I'll keep the focus here on the Event V release. The packaging for these event v's continues to be a rather no frills affair with Momusu's Event V for their single "Resonant Blue" being the standout release so far in appearances and in extras as it also includes a slide show. BK's version here like their previous Event V for "Dschinghis Khan" does however include an impressive 8 versions of the clip with solo member versions to go along with the aforementioned "Monkey Ver." I've uploaded all 7 solo member versions which will follow here and when it comes to filling in all of the non vocal portions as well as keeping a high energy throughout these solo clips it's clear that Momo is just the cutest of everyone in this regard. Her playful and fun demeanor throughout her clip gives me the belief that UFA could probably sell an Event V of Momo reading through the telephone book and it would sell quite well I think! :P
With Momo out-idoling the rest of the members of Berryz Koubou and C-ute in "Berikyuu Idol" it was time to see which group held more fan support when the two met head to head in a group vs. group setting where anything and everything which endears you to them as a group and individually was key in deciding a hopefully decisive victor. When the dust settled after about a week of voting it was Berryz Koubou with a 2.7% edge over C-ute crowning them the winners of this BK vs. C-ute group battle. At about the midway point C-ute actually held a 1.8% lead over BK but down the final stretch of votes being cast BK was too much for them to deny victory. I thought it would be interesting to see a little breakdown of the votes cast and I'd like to thank everyone who participated in the voting process in determining the BK vs. C-ute battle debate...well in this little spot of the blogosphere. ^-^
While the presidency here can be won by a candidate with less overall votes in the final tally as winning the individual states and their appointed electoral votes is key in the process, I was curious to see just how BK and C-ute faired had it been BK vs. C-ute for the presidency....hmmm well yes in weirdo land that is! :PIn all 19 states participated in the voting with Illinois and Kentucky ending in ties. Berryz Koubou's...um "presidential campaign" went quite well as they captured the majority of votes from 10 of the participating states including Florida, Hawaii, Oregon, Kansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, New Jersey, Indiana, Virginia, and Vermont....but would it count for enough electoral votes to win the "election?" C-ute captured 3 less states including Washington, Tennessee, California, West Virginia, Texas, Minnesota, and Pennsylvania but California in particular accounts for a substantial number of electoral votes so just like Dubya did, could C-ute pull out the "presidential" win as well even with less total votes cast for them?
BK's talley: Florida=25, Hawaii=4, Oregon=7, Kansas=6, Louisiana=9, North Carolina=14, New Jersey=15, Indiana=12, Virginia=13, and Vermont=3. Total electoral votes received=108.
C-ute's talley: Washington=11, California=54, Texas=32, Minnesota=10, Tennessee=11, West Virginia=5, and Pennsylvania=23. Total electoral votes received=146
The states Illinois and Kentucky ended with a tie in number of votes cast for each group.
So C-ute would be president had this been a presidential campaign instead of a friendly idol group battle which means that soon Maimai could be issuing you tax rebate checks while Maimichan tries to fix our troubled budget and overseas relations. :P
Okay back to reality and the actual results of this H!P group battle.
The winning group Berryz Koubou received votes from: U.S, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, Chile, Spain, UK, France, Germany, Finland, Japan, Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Australia.
C-ute received votes from: U.S, Canada, Ireland, UK, Sweden, Austria, Russia, Japan, Taiwan, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Australia.
And in regards to the majority of votes captured by each group for a particular region, they are as follows:
Berryz Koubou had the dominate vote in: U.S, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, Spain, UK, France, Germany, Finland, Thailand, Philippines, Singapore, and Malaysia.
C-ute had the dominate vote in: Canada, Ireland, Austria, Sweden, Russia, Taiwan, and Australia.
The countries Japan and Indonesia ended with a tie in the voting for both groups.
While Momo clearly topped all 13 of her fellow members in BK and C-ute as she captured the majority of the fan vote in winning season one's "Berikyuu Idol", that has me wondering...does that translate into BK > C-ute...most likely an unfair assumption so............there's just one way to find out! ^-^ A Berryz Koubou vs. C-ute popularity battle!! And while BK has a head start in development, there's really no doubt that both groups are greatly loved and adored amongst their many mutual fans but and with that thought in mind...what this is truly intended to be, is really a friendly competition.....but still there must be a slight edge between them I imagine amongst their many fans. :) Both groups have had good songwriting and along the way have developed in leaps and bounds with some very poignant moments no doubt!...so perhaps there are numerous factors that come into play when deciding the possibly difficult task of choosing a decisive pick between them...personalities, charisma, performances, looks, and overall talent to name just a few variables that fans may ponder over before choosing...so with those and much more in mind, let's get ready to rumble!!! :P
And fittingly here's the most recent BK vs. C-ute shashinshuu battle set that I received from Ohta. It kind of has the feeling of a slumber party in a sense...cute poses abound! ^-^ Will your overall favorite member(s) play a factor in your decision as those could be easily in both groups simultaneously or will the larger scope of members play out in your final decision?...
