I haven't been following Imai Miki's career through the years. I remember the song "PIECE OF MY WISH" from the drama "Ashita Ga Aru Kara". I have to admit this is one of my all time favorites also and I had a big time crush on her. I saw her on Kohaku Uta Gassen a couple years back and I thought she still looks good.
I've watched this drama too and did you notice that the lead actor was also in "War" starring Jet Li! When he appeared I was kind of stunned! :O My collection of Imai Miki is very modest and this song has always stood out for me. I actually knew this song before seeing "Ashita ga aru kara" and I was immediately struck by it's feel with the show due to that...I think it's one of the very rare times that this has happened as I usually attach myself to theme songs during the drama.

I was so happy that she finally made her debut on the Kouhaku after so many years in the music industry!! Imai Miki is beautiful!!

Yes but, it took me awhile to figure out why he looked so familiar. That mustache threw me. I thought he held his own in there against Jet and Jason Statham. That movie didn't do anything for me. What did you think of it?

I thought for sure that "Ashita ga aru kara" was before your time. Man, nothing gets by you. You were probably in 2nd grade when that aired.

I can't believe that was Imai Miki's debut on Kouhaku. I wonder what they look for when they make their selections. I understand Zard never made an appearance.

Ishibashi Ryo...? I'm really bad at remembering actors names. :P "War" was disappointing and somehow the story seemed kind of...hmmm...how should I put it....goofy at times...sorry I couldn't think of a better word to use there! :P I usually love Jet Li movies so I was really looking forward to it despite all of the bad reviews that it received.

A friend lent me "Ashita ga aru kara" and he had it recorded on VHS. I'm so lucky to see a lot of older dramas that way! It was so wonderful knowing the theme song so well and then getting to see the drama! And the drama itself was a good one!! :) Another older drama that a friend lent me was "Kono yo no hate" and the theme song is Ozaki Yutaka's "Oh My Little Girl"...another artist that I really love! This drama was so devastating and the ending really broke your heart.

What's interesting about the Kouhaku is that numerous prominent artists/groups decline to be on it. I was so happy when Imai Miki finally appeared on the show!! Mr.Children is another group that has never appeared on the Kouhaku and I imagine that they'd absolutely love to have them on. Hmmm...Zard never appeared either and it was heartwarming to see the Kouhaku pay tribute to her on this year's show despite that.
